Homaro Cantu is an internationally recognized chef and leader in the culinary field of molecular gastronomy.
At just 29 years of age, he has been described by the New York Times as "A Chef in the Buck Rogers tradition, blazing a trail to a space-age culinary frontier." After graduating from Le Cordon Bleu and developing his culinary skills at several establishments on the West Coast, Mr. Cantu traveled to Chicago to work at Charlie Trotter’s. At Charlie Trotter’s Mr. Cantu rose to the position of Sous Chef and held this position until he was made Executive Chef at Moto Restaurant in Chicago.

In addition to his talents in the kitchen, Mr. Cantu is an inventor. Through Cantu Designs Mr. Cantu has filed numerous patent applications covering diverse fields such as dining items, cookware and edible surfaces. As Chairman and Founder of Cantu Designs Mr. Cantu is working on developing these technologies for commercial application.

As Vice President, New Business Development, Dr. Linda Kawano is responsible for implementing the creations and concepts of Chef Homaro Cantu. Dr. Kawano's experience in evaluating and commercializing new technologies spans over nineteen years. Early in her career, Dr. Kawano held positions at Amersham Corporation in technical sales support, marketing and new business development. She has served as the director of Northwestern University's intellectual property licensing office and later negotiated technology acquisition agreements for Abbott Laboratories. For the past nine years, as the founder of GroupOptima, she has rendered intellectual property management and high technology business services to corporations and universities throughout the US, Canada and Japan. Dr. Kawano is a former board member of the Association of University Technology Managers. She received her BS in Biological Sciences and PhD in Biological Sciences and Experimental Pathology from the University of Illinois at Chicago.
